About the service

Who can use the Handyperson Service?

  • Any person aged 60 and over and living within North Lanarkshire.

What kind of small tasks do we carry out?

  • Changing light bulbs
  • Fitting smoke alarms
  • Replacing batteries
  • Restringing pulleys
  • Changing or hanging curtains
  • Fitting door chains or viewers (wooden doors)
  • Moving furniture within the home
  • Putting up shelves and fixing cupboard doors
 

What is not included in the service? 

  • Roofing or guttering
  • Painting and decorating
  • Gardening
  • Domestic work (cleaning or housework)
  • Work that should be carried out by a tradesperson
 

What does the service cost? 

  • The service is FREE
  • No charge is made for labour or travel costs
  • Any materials required should be obtained by the service user

Requests for work can be made through your local Handyperson Service office. A volunteer will contact you to arrange a suitable date and time to carry out your request. We regularly monitor the service and feedback from our service users is always appreciated. 

You can contact the Handyperson Service during normal office hours Monday to Friday.

Volunteers

 

Since 1999 the Handyperson Service in North Lanarkshire has been operated by using the DIY skills of Volunteers to assist older people within their own homes.  If you or anyone you know has the relevant skills to be a Volunteer please contact us at the above address or email helen.gannon@cvsnl.org.uk

All our volunteers are carefully selected and have enhanced disclosures.
